If you want to follow us on our adventure, you can.  ideaLEVER Solutions has created this awesome website for us.  Even tho we know nothing about the interior workings of a website, they have made it super easy; we can update it whenever we want to from wherever we are, complete with links and photos, knowing only word processor technology, and the changes are online immediately!  Updating our website is an absolute pleasure.  Thanks, ideaLEVER gang!  Check out Our Sailing Adventure to see where we are

The unLikely Paddlefest

September 19th to 22nd, 2008

Likely, British Columbia

Adrenalin Mountain Adventures hosts the annual unLikely Paddlefest.  And this year, we have tons of help from our local paddlers and the crew at Red Shred's Bike & Board Shed and we guarentee it will be better than ever!  The festival is for paddlers of all levels.  It happens on the third weekend in September, so this year it will be Friday, Sept 19th to Monday, Sept 22nd.  For those of you who have never paddled before, or if you'd like a fun refresher course, Captain Holiday's Kayak & Adventure School will be there to do a 2-day introduction to kayaking course.  Don provides everything you need - kayaks, paddles, helmets, lifejackets and wetsuits, and absolutely fun and expert instruction.  You will learn techniques to move in and out of eddies, and you can perfect your roll with his easy tips and tricks.  Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, so email Don now or call him toll free at 1-888-905-2925 to reserve your boat!  And be sure to get your T-shirt early; it is your ticket to the shuttles, the dance, and prizes!

surfing close upThis year is our first theme year: Gold Digger's Ball.  Bring a costume for Saturday night, and for the parade down main street!  There will be festivities starting late Friday afternoon with our Rowdy  Relay - a land & water race in anything that floats - and you end up at the street party.  Follow that by a scrumptious dinner at the Likely 'Hilton' Hotel provided by the talented girls at the Gecko Tree.  And finally, Open Mic Night also at the Hilton is sure to bring out some of your secret hidden talents!  (Bring your kazoo, poetry, voice, costume, etc.)  Paddling will commence Saturday morning right after a hearty (Gecko Tree) breakfast, and continue all weekend with free organized shuttles.  This is where the community and the backcountry of the Cariboo shine!  You will paddle crystal clear water all weekend - amidst spectacular scenery including breathtaking wildlife, birdlife (and even human life!) the likes of which you have never seen!  The rivers are classes 1 through 4, with something for everyone.  And the lake kayaking is some of the best in central BC.  There will even be rafting going on, if you want to try a different kind of adrenalin.  On Saturday after paddling, change out of your wet gear and into a gold-diggers costume for the walking parade and festivities to follow.  The theme is to commemorate the gold miners who came through during the gold rush and who lived at Quesnel Forks (now a nearby ghost town), and in Likely.  If you are lucky, you may meet some of the gold miners who still make their living this way!   Later, we will have dinner by the plate, served up by the talented girls at the Gecko Tree.  And following a sumptuous meal, we will dance to the amazing live music of Mama Groove on Saturday night.

On Sunday, there will be a delicious fresh brunch and more paddling.  At the end of the day, you can buy burgers and beer, cooked up by local goldminers at the Quesnel Forks take-out.  Perfect - just show up!

Monday, there will be a Chilko River Run - as always.  This year it will be free, with the shuttles arranged by those participating.  So bring a big lunch for this incredible adventure because you'll depart at 9am and you'll return around 9pm!

You can camp overnight, or stay in a lodge in Likely, if you want a hot shower at the end of the day.  There is no charge for participating in the kayaking; just come and share the vibe with us!  There will be a nominal fee by the plate for dinner and brunch.  An unLikely Paddlefest T-shirt is your ticket to shuttles, entertainment, and prizes, so get one soon!  For more details, please call Mark at Red Shreds (250-398-7873) or email Mark, or call Ivan (250-989-2100) or email Ivan.  Come and join the fun!
